Manage and Distribute your Drawings, Images, Documents and Plot Files with PrintOS
PrintOS provides easy web-browser access to all your project plans, specifications, and legal documents from any computer in your company. With PrintOS, you can quickly and easily preview for print distribution.

Production Printing Module for Color and Monochrome
PrintOS has direct support for your printing systems, including Oce, KIP, Xerox, PLP, Repro Desk, Ricoh, Kyocera-Mita, HP, Kodak’s Encad and others. Do you have additional printers? A PrintOS queue running at each printer prevents sending jobs from one location to another.

No Client Software or Plug-Ins to Install
One of the biggest advantages of a pure dynamic HTML web-based system is that the client software is already installed. Not having to schedule IT to install software at every workstation greatly reduces implementation time and cost. PrintOS works with all mainstream Mozilla based web browsers, from Internet Explorer 3 and Netscape 4 to today’s latest versions.

Easy Access to Network File Folders
With PrintOS you can browse for your documents on shared folders over most types of networks, Windows, Novell, Linux, Unix, even Mac.

Use on Any Platform
Your investment is further protected from the barriers of a mixed computer environment because it can be used on any type of computer, PC, Mac, Linux, or Unix. Because it is browser based, PrintOS lets you leverage the full advantage of wireless, Tablet PC, and handheld PDA technologies. Attended or Unattended Print Queue Operation
With PrintOS, users can output collated print sets directly to a printer or to a held queue awaiting further review and submission by a print production operator.

Photo Realistic Color
PrintOS supports viewing and printing of large high resolution color images, in file formats like TIFF, JPEG, Adobe PDF, Adobe PostScript*, even Adobe PhotoShop PSD, and supports Mr. SID which is used for GIS and remote sensing image data.

For Reprographics
As print job orders are configured and submitted by clients, the jobs show up in the PrintOS Jobs Queue. Each job in the queue listing is color coded for status, and arranged in the order of receipt. From any workstation in your facility, production personnel can direct a job to the appropriate printer using a web browser. PrintOS can also be used by production assistants to configure and assemble print jobs. PrintOS gives you all these capabilities without installing software throughout your company.

For Engineering and CAD Departments
PrintOS empowers a design team to easily issue print requests directly to the printer queue without tying up the designers’ workstations.

For the Front Office PrintOS allows non-CAD users to view design data as if it were printed on paper. With the same system, they can access and print office and legal documents.

Centralized and Remote Printing
PrintOS print jobs are processed and sent directly from the host computer, reducing network traffic and eliminating the need to install and verify printer drivers on every client desktop.

Share Costly Wide Format Network Printers and Plotters
Anyone in your department will be PrintOS even collates the job with the first page on top and the last page on the bottom of the stack, thus eliminating costly sorting time at the document output tray of the printer.

“Shopping Cart” Style Batch Printing
Users can easily assemble their own print sets with a “shopping cart” mechanism. They select the files they want to print and add them to a list which they can rearrange and apply settings such as sheet size and number of copies. Then they can output collated print sets directly to a printer or to a held queue awaiting further review and submission by a print room or reprographics production operator.

Supports Native CAD, Office, and Imaging Formats
Because PrintOS supports native document and imaging file formats there are no costly publishing procedures when posting files. Files are simply copied or saved to a PrintOS shared network file folder.

WYSIWYP Plot Styles, Screening, and Line Weights
Anyone who’s ever seen a CAD file displayed on a computer can remember a rendering of bright colored geometric figures on top of a dark background. The fact is that most users of a CAD document have no idea what the colors mean. PrintOS can display CAD files and all other types of documents exactly as they appear when printed out on paper, with the correct line thicknesses, font styles, shading, etc. In other words, “What You See Is What You Print”.

Embedded RIP Rendering Engine
The PrintOS print controller processes native files, file formats for sharing, as well as print and plot file formats. This flexibility allows documents to be captured, used and archived at any phase within their lifecycle, from scan file indexing and conversion process to the printing of construction, production, and as-built drawing sets and specifications. PrintOS has the option for direct support of files from high-end CAD systems like Pro/E, Unigraphics, CATIA, and Solid Works, as well as image compression technologies such as Mr. SID and JPEG 2000 formats used for maps and remote sensing data.

Deliver Document Sets in PDF, DWF, CGM, or TIFF
The same “shopping cart” mechanism used for Batch Printing can be used to convert entire document sets to PDF, DWF, CGM, TIFF and many more file formats for distribution via email saving lots of money in shipping costs not to mention production delays.

Avoid Client Tools with DWF, the Plot File of the Future
Autodesk has set the standard for a portable file format for collaboration and print publishing. DWF is the most prominent and visible plotting method in AutoCAD 2005. Because PrintOS supports DWF, no special client tools or buttons need to be installed on your AutoCAD workstations to produce PDF files or proprietary LDF files, everything is built into AutoCAD. DWF is set up just like a plotter driver in AutoCAD, only it supports multiple drawings with sheet sets and sheet names all in one file. Autodesk provides a free DWF viewer so users can preview files to make sure they are correct prior to submission. Autodesk also offers a low cost editor and makup tool for DWF files.
